Individual freedom must be established before corporate freedom can be realized, but

Jesus is the Truth, and He is the One who sets the captive free. Power for the believer comes in knowing and choosing the truth. We are to pursue truth because we already have all the power we need in Christ (see Ephesians 1:18-19). Furthermore, people in bondage are not liberated by what I do as a pastor, but by what they choose to believe, confess, renounce, and forgive.

The universe moves in the direction of Liberty.

Liberation is not deliverance. One gets free from the galleys, but not from the sentence.

All civilisation begins with a theocracy and ends with a democracy. This law of liberty succeeding unity is written in architecture.

Release is not the same as liberation. You get out of jail, all right, but you never stop being condemned.

Liberation is not deliverance. A convict may leave prison behind but not his sentence.

Aim to live as a slave to Christ, because only then am I free…. We're all in some kind of bondage …. Most of us have the freedom to choose that slavery, whether we realize it or not."

Both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were brought forth under the inspiration of God to establish and maintain the freedom of the people of this nation. I said it, and I believe it to be true. There is a miracle in its establishment that cannot be explained in any other way.

Great are the promises concerning this land of America. We are told unequivocally that it "is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ" (Ether 2:12). This is the crux of the entire matter—obedience to the commandments of God.

As precious as life itself is our heritage of individual freedom, for man's free agency is a God-given gift.
