Don't ever flirt with sin.

We are not beyond the devil's ability to tempt us, but we can always resist him in Jesus' name. There are days when the battle of the mind seems relentless, but victory always comes to those who refuse to give up. Thomas Edison said, "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

The discipline of making the right choice no matter how one feels is the road to a successful life.

Too often that is our problem. We get ourselves into a mess and then try to get ourselves out by some miraculous method. Then we make another mess and try to do the same thing again. We go from one mess to another, never wanting to take responsibility for our own mistakes. What we need to do is to get some balance and start exercising self-discipline. We cannot walk in stupidity and spend our whole life ignoring the consequences. God has given us wisdom, and He expects us to use it. I

Sooner or later they start to get more and more exhausted because if they are Christians, they are often taking on church commitments also—and maybe even some commitments that are not Spirit-led. It may be things that they feel they need to do. But if they are not careful, they may end up trying to be everything to everybody, which cannot be done. They may begin to feel that they are being pulled apart because everywhere they look there is someone wanting them to do something. I

That is the way we are to resist Satan when he comes to tempt us into condemnation, depression or any other wrong thing he is trying to give us.

First, that wherever you live, it is probably Egypt; second, that there is a better place, a world more attractive, a promised land; and third, that "the way to the land is through the wilderness." There is no way to get from here to there except by joining together and marching.

Sin does not remain a contented servant; it seeks to seize and master its participants.

For Satan's purposes, making you a completely ineffective and isolated follower of Jesus is as much a success as keeping you lost in sin.

Most counseling cases today involve good desires that have become overgrown. In these cases most relevant passages of Scripture may not be those that rebut particular manifestations of sin, but those that remind us to love God with all our hearts.

They knew, with the painful conviction of experience, what it meant to say, "I see and approve the better, but follow the worse.

I know what it's like to have a No. 1 pick and having everybody picking at him all of the time.
