delighting in what we have been given.

G. K. Chesterton once said that to be thankful is the highest form of thought and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder. Thanklessness, then,must be the lowest form of thought, and ingratitude is discontentment, bankrupted of wonder.

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever. Psalm 136:1

With that in mind, here is a list of suggested things to thank God for. You may not have everything on this list (right now), but maybe many of them will resonate with you. The leper I met would have been elated to have any of these things. A roof over your head A friend who checks in on you Family members who love you A car that is running (yes, even if it's barely running) A full stomach Hot and cold running water A sense of humor

The grateful heart will always find opportunities to show its gratitude.

The greatest benefits will not bind the ungrateful.

9th August, 1872.—I do most devoutly thank the Lord for His goodness in bringing my men near to this. Three came to-day, and how thankful I am I cannot express. It is well—the men who went with Mr. Stanley came again to me. "Bless the Lord, my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name." Amen.

We give thanks to God not because of how we feel, but because of Who He is.

We should not accept in silence the benefactions of God, but return thanks for them.

Thank you, always say thank you; it's the greatest gift you can give someone; because thank you is what you say to God.

God is in control and therefore in everything I can give thanks.
