Our faith here can only be in God, not in our faith (that's presumption). He will never abandon us, but we can abandon Him. That's why we must be vigilant.

Question the ways of the almighty God? To face God is to be humbled. With humility comes wisdom; with wisdom comes the strength to wait upon the Lord.

He desires for us to understand His plans.

Your will, not mine, O Lord.

Set a clear focus in your life, and fear will be crowded out. The more you fix your eyes on God's purpose for you, the more you will overcome your fear.

Do not expect to master the Bible in a day, or a month, or a year. Rather expect often to be puzzled by its contents. It is not all equally clear. Great men of God often feel like absolute novices when they read the Word. The apostle Peter said that there were some things hard to understand in the epistles of Paul.

Lord, help me to focus on Your will for my life so I won't be distracted, destroyed, discouraged, disappointed, or defeated.

Instead of getting what he wanted, he got what he needed—a deeper vision of God's grace and strength in his life.

Any time you go into a new environment, you have to learn a new system, there are adjustments you have to make.

From God, I have the strength and intelligence to have alternatives and can live even without football.

How fast we learn in the day of sorrow! Scripture shines out in a new effulgence; every verse seems to contain a sunbeam, every promise stands out in illuminated splendor; things hard to be understood become in a moment plain.

Thus while I journey on, my Lord to meet,My thoughts and meditations are so sweet,Of Him on whom I lean, my strength, my stay,I can forget the sorrows of the way.
