We are here for the sake of others

Man can find meaning in life, short and perilous as it is, only through devoting himself to society.

There is no joy in life like the joy of sharing.

I want to take care of people. I want to help people. The maximum joy that I have is when I can create something that makes someone else's life lighter, brighter, or better.

Happiness is not a goal, it is a by-product. For what keeps our interest in life and makes us look forward to tomorrow is giving pleasure to other people.

The way not to lead a monotonous life is to live for others.

Infinite sharing is the law of God s inner life.

Never have I risked my life, or even my comfort, in the service of mankind. Shame on me.

A volunteer is a person who can see what others cannot see; who can feel what most do not feel. Often, such gifted persons do not think of themselves as volunteers, but as citizens - citizens in the fullest sense: partners in civilization.

We learned about gratitude and humility - that so many people had a hand in our success, from the teachers who inspired us to the janitors who kept our school clean... and we were taught to value everyone's contribution and treat everyone with respect.

I have prayed with the families and wept at the funerals of Hoosiers who did not shrink from 9-11 but grew into heroes whose names will forever be engraved in the heart of a grateful nation.

We can't help everyone but everyone can help someone.
