If our preaching does not intersect with the times, we are fleeing the call to take up the cross. We can learn from the example of Dostoevsky, who in The Brothers Karamazov used material that he read in the newspapers to give a human face to the problem of evil.

Reading God's Word and meditating on its truth will have a purifying effect upon your mind and heart, and will be demonstrated in your life. Let nothing take the place of this daily privilege.

Don't conform to those who have been overwhelmed by the tide of immorality sweeping our country!

The world doesn't really have much respect for Christians who adopt its fashions and ideas. It is inclined to regard them with contempt—to write them off either as cowards who are ashamed of their faith or as frauds whose profession is not sincere.

God wants us to know His will and He reveals it to us both through the Bible and through the guidance of His Holy Spirit. Seek God's will when you pray, and He will help you know it.

Repent means to renounce sin . . .and by God's grace to fill my mind with things that honor Him.

It is often asked, "How could the early disciples turn the world upside down when millions of Christians can't even keep it right side up today?" The answer is they didn't conform their faith to match the world. They had the truth, and they refused to water it down. They had a faith that would not compromise.

The apostle Paul urges Christians everywhere in all ages to be nonconformists as far as the world system is concerned. We are not to conform. A true Christian, living an obedient life, is a constant rebuke to those who accept the moral standards of this world.

The church is blending into the community by embracing what the world enjoys and, in turn, bringing inside the church the world's ideas and interests.

The Spirit of God takes the Word of God and makes the child of God.

Most of all, let the Word of God fill you and renew your mind every day. When our minds are on Christ, Satan has little room to maneuver.

When our hearts are surrendered totally to the will of God, then we delight in seeing Him use us in any way He pleases. Our plans and desires begin to agree with His, and we accept His direction in our lives. Our sense of joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment in life increases, no matter what the circumstances, if we are in the center of God's will.
