A lot of times we change, not when we see the light, but when we feel the heat.

it's easy to forget that the pursuit of happiness is not what life is about. Only as we remember that life is a test, a trust, and a temporary assignment will the appeal of these things lose their grip on our lives. We are preparing for something even better. "The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever."10

Every experience is a potential life lesson. Even if you don't appreciate it at the time, each struggle in the present is preparing you for something else in the future.

Christ] has accomplished your salvation. But He has not yet perfected your circumstances. Do not be confused in the two.

Trouble is here. It is for a purpose. Use it for the purpose for which it was intended - to help you grow. Thank God for your troubles.

Not every day can be an easy one, nor every day fully happy; but even a day of tough going and difficulty can be a good day.

Unless there is a Good Friday in your life, there can be no Easter Sunday.

Adversity reminds men of religion.

Many of the men who had come to the wilderness to practice religion appeared to have forgotten its true nature.

In those early days, God gave us wonderful experiences to confirm our faith, then sooner or later, He chose a more difficult curriculum for us. Struggles, disappointments, and misunderstandings about the nature of the Christian life threatened our fledgling faith, but the winter season provided the opportunity to go deeper and grow closer to God.
