The devil's purpose in the past was to keep Christ away from the world. Having failed that goal, the only option left to him is to keep the world away from Christ. He does so by sprinkling lies with truths and half-truths to create doubt in our minds about the faithfulness and glory of God.

Temptation is attractive; otherwise it wouldn't be tempting. And it's dangerous because it's attractive.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Eph. 6:11)

if it happens that the soul is attached or inclined to a thing inordinately, that one should move himself, putting forth all his strength, to come to the contrary of what he is wrongly drawn to.

We are up against the unseen power that controls this dark world and the spiritual agents are from the very headquarters of evil. Therefore, we must wear the "whole armour of God," that we may be able to resist evil in its day of power, and that even when we have fought to a standstill, we may still stand our ground.

Many persons make the mistake of thinking they can measure the certainty of salvation by their feelings. It is the Word of God that is their foundation and therefore it is essential for the new convert in Christ to have a practical knowledge of the Bible. More than anyone else it is the new convert who will come under the fire of the enemy.

Let us beware of the mistakes that C. S. Lewis described in Screwtape Letters. He says, "There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence, the other is to believe and to feel an unhealthy interest in them! They themselves are equally pleased by both errors, and they hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight."

If you allow your enemy to steal your faith, he can destroy your life and ultimately kill your relationship with God.

How can you tell when the devil is lying? His lips are moving.

I've heard it said, "If the Devil can't make us really bad, then he'll try to make us really busy.

When God says something to you, record it, because your spiritual enemy is an expert at stealing the seeds of truth that God wants to plant.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds' (2 Cor. 10:3-4). The Greek word translated as strongholds is ochuroma (pronounced oak-EW-ROH-muh), which means to fortify, lock up, or imprison. This is what our enemy tries to do to us. He lies to us until we're convinced that we're stuck and can never escape our problems.
