Everything tells me that I am about to make a wrong decision, but making mistakes is just part of life. What does the world want of me? Does it want me to take no risks, to go back to where I came from because I didn't have the courage to say "yes" to life?

Guilt will paralyze your confidence in your own prayers

Fear will paralyze your confidence in God's willingness to be your provider and answer your prayers.

Lord, help me let go of control. Help me die. Help me trust.

We have practically been conditioned to expect God to be our helicopter parent. And if for some reason we don't run to God to solve every little problem, from finding our car keys to deciding on color schemes for the nursery, we are told there is something deeply wrong with us spiritually. Phooey.

Trust does not cancel our mind but circumscribes it and tames it—and so we do not succumb to fretting or anxious thoughts of being unsure.

The darkness does us a favor by exposing control as an illusion. When everything is removed, "Where can I take back some control here?" eventually ceases being the active question and is replaced with a plea: "Lord, help me let go of control. Help me die. Help me trust.

The root of the conflict for many Christians is not scientific or even theological, but group identity and fear of losing what it offers.

But the LORD said to him, “Peace be with you. Do not be afraid, for you will not die.”
