Our lives are full of supposes. Suppose this should happen, or suppose that should happen; what could we do; how could we bear it? But, if we are living in the dwelling place of God, all these supposes vanish and we shall be free from fear.

When man has love he is no longer at the mercy of forces greater than himself, for he, himself, becomes the powerful force

To try is to risk failure. But risks need to be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing and is nothing. They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel change, grow, love and live. Chained by their certitudes, they are a slave; they have forfeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free.

Only one who risks is free.

I grew up in a family in which no male upstream from me had ever finished high school, much less gone to college. But I was taught that even though there was nothing I could do about what was behind me, I could change everything about what was in front of me. My working poor parents told me that I could do better.

I can't control the naysayers. I can control my attitude and work ethic and determination and that's what I'm focused on now.

The more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.
