No one gets out of this world alive, so the time to live, learn, care, share, celebrate, and love is now.

For men and women alike, this journey is a the trajectory between birth and death, a human life lived. No one escapes the adventure. We only work with it differently.

It is no security to wicked men for one moment, that there are no visible means of death at hand. 'Tis no security to a natural man, that he is now in health, and that he don't see which way he should now immediately go out of the world by any accident, and that there is no visible danger in any respect in his circumstances.

Tis very little worth the while for us to pursue after honor in this world, where the greatest honor is but a bubble and will soon vanish away, and death will level all. Some have more stately houses than others, and some are in higher office than others, and some are richer than others and have higher seats in the meeting-house than others; but all graves are upon a level.

He uses the world as if he used it not, 1 Cor. 7. 31.

If we spend our lives in the pursuit of a temporal happiness; as riches or sensual pleasures; credit and esteem from men; delight in our children, and the prospect of seeing them well brought up, and well settled, &c.--All these things will be of little significancy to us. Death will blow up all our hopes, and will put an end to these enjoyments.

A] right understanding that death is nothing to us makes the mortality of life enjoyable, not because it adds to it an infinite span of time, but because it takes away the craving for immortality. For there is nothing terrible in life for the man who has truly comprehended that there is nothing terrible in not living.

I was not; I have been; I am not; I do not mind.

It's a great thing learning how to die.

When the people of a congregation zealously hold convictions about time and space, the church will begin to change (and change fast)! There is a powerful grace that comes with the belief that this mortal life is terrifyingly brief and the life after death is gloriously infinite. This profound conviction moves the church to become a people of radical action, urgency, unction, and even risk.

The whole of world history there is always only one really significant hour—the present...

Fundamentally we feel that we really belong to death already, and that every new day is a miracle.
