For all of us, the time is short and the span of life is brief On top of that, our real human problem, the Stoic philosopher Seneca said in a direct rebuke to the modern illusion, is not just that life is short but that we waste so much of it-so that life ceases for us "just when we are getting ready for it."35 But

Lord. I must recognize that God, in his awesome glory, is the only being in the universe who exists in timelessness. He has created me to live in and for a certain time and place. I must do all he has called me to do within the limits of the time he has given me.

Thats because, like everyone else on the planet, you believed that time would teach you to grow closer to God. But time doesnt teach; it merely brings us a sense of weariness and of growing older.

Past and future exist only in our memory. The present moment, though, is outside of time, its Eternity. In India, they use the word karma, for lack of any better term. It isnt what you did in the past that will affect the present. Its what you do in the present that will redeem the past and thereby change the future.

While it is God who opens the door of opportunity, you must be available to walk through it.

“You just saw him!” Joab exclaimed. “Why did you not strike him to the ground right there? I would have given you ten shekels of silver and a warrior’s belt!”

They sweep by like boats of papyrus, like an eagle swooping down on its prey.

Surely you know, for you were already born! And the number of your days is great!

While it is daytime, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,

Make every effort to come to me quickly,
