We prove the value we attach to things by the time we devote to them. The Kingdom should be first every day, and all the day.

Jesus would train us to the blessed life of consecration and service, in which our interests are all subordinate to the Name, and the Kingdom, and the Will of the Father.

Children of God! It is thus Jesus would have us to pray to the Father in heaven. O let His Name, and Kingdom, and Will, have the first place in our love.

In Jesus all our fears are removed, all our needs supplied, all our desires met. He, the righteous One, is your righteousness; He, the obedient One, is your obedience. Will you not trust Him for this? What faith sees and desires and expects and accepts, surely it will dare trust Christ to give.

The words give expression to the great truth that before I can enter the Kingdom, it must first enter into me. Before I can possess its privileges and powers, it must first possess me, with all my powers and being. I must, in subjection and surrender, in poverty and emptiness, receive the Kingdom into my heart before I am fit to be entrusted with all the power and glory it offers me.

The blessing is often superficial or transitory, just because they are not the nothing that opens the way for God to be all.

God has priority over your time, no matter what else must be neglected. Only then will you be able to submit yourself fully to the will of God. If, from day to day, you persevere with dedication, time will no longer be a question.

Learn to say no to the good so you can say yes to the best.

The providence of God, I grant, does not indeed preclude the faithful from caring for themselves; but let them do it in such a way, that they may not overstep their prescribed bounds.

Anyone who cannot bear to lay hold of God as he comes down to him will still less soar up to him beyond the clouds.

First of all, then, in striving for either convenience or tranquility in this present life, Scripture calls us to resign our wills and everything that is our to the Lord, and to turn the affections of our hearts over to Him to be tamed and bridled.

We can choose to humble ourselves by loving God, adjusting our will to His, and putting Him first in our lives.
